At Workhorse, our members not only work hard but also come with impressive backgrounds. Such is the case with our latest Member Spotlight, Christopher Dime. Keep reading to learn about Chris’s background, his business, and what he loves about our community, both at Workhorse and in Edmonds.
Can you tell us a bit about your work? What do you do, and what do you love about it?
My work primarily centers on helping individuals and families develop concrete financial goals (e.g., retirement aspirations, wealth transfers, tax reduction).
Through contrasting what the family has accumulated thus far and their desired end state, we can recommend strategies and tools to close that gap and mitigate obstacles along the way (ex,. avoiding overpaying in income or estate taxes, avoiding inefficient/reactive investing, maximizing employer benefits, providing for loved ones in your absence or incapacitation).
I love the work we do because it has real, tangible impacts on improving someone’s situation. I can directly measure the increased efficiency of tax savings, investment returns, and organizational effectiveness. As things change in our clients’ lives, we are here to help them change their plans accordingly.
On a personal note, since most of my clientele is local to the Edmonds area, it’s nice to know that I am having a lasting impact on the financial well-being of my community. It’s also motivating to know that I probably won’t live long enough to outlast the ripples of change our work causes in the financial security of the families in town.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself? What are your interests and hobbies? What’s a fun fact?
I have served in the Army National Guard for over a decade, supporting domestic and international operations. Most notably, I served when the WA State National Guard was activated to support local law enforcement in WA State during the 2020 BLM protests and in WA DC during the 2021 Presidential Inauguration.
Our family of four lives in the Sherwood Forest area of Edmonds, and we frequent the parks in town, the YMCA, and Sunset Ave. I’m trying to get my kids into music, but it hasn’t quite caught on yet. Like any good financial professional, I also play golf (poorly) and am not immune to a good BBQ/meat smoking session.
What drew you to Workhorse? What’s your favorite thing about it? What problems does it help you solve?
When I first set up my office in Edmonds, I had a private suite by the ferry, which solved my problem of not having an office, but didn’t solve for a community. After interviewing a few offices in town, my wife helped me decide on Workhorse for its geographical convenience to downtown and its camaraderie. It’s nice to build relationships with fellow business owners in town and stay plugged into the goings-on with different industries.
Workhorse Members Create Community
Spotlighting our members has made introductions a breeze. Chris is in the space quite frequently. You’ll see him striding into a conference room, briefcase in hand. He comes early to each client meeting, setting out water glasses and ensuring he’s available to greet his clients as they enter the space. He is a consummate professional, probably due in large part to his military training.
And while Chris is always dapper, don’t let that intimidate you. He is eager to say hello and engage in conversation, so don’t hesitate next time you see him!
