Emma Rice showed up at Workhorse with a passion for video editing, a crisp degree from UT, and stories about backpacking through 16 European countries in three weeks.

Can you tell us a bit about your work? What do you do, and what do you love about it?
I work as a Marketing Coordinator and Video Editor for VisionTell, a done-for-you content creation company. Video editing has been my thing since I was a kid—like, embarrassingly early obsession—so getting to do this for work feels surreal.
What I love most is the creative problem-solving piece. You get all these raw pieces—footage, audio, ideas, chaos—and you have to figure out how to stitch them into something polished and finished. I love the moment when everything clicks, when a video goes from a jumble of clips to a piece. That’s the hit I chase.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself? What are your interests and hobbies? What’s a fun fact?
I moved to Seattle with my fiancé just over a year ago, fresh off graduating from UT (Hook ’em!!!). I’m obsessed with staying active—walks and runs are non-negotiable for me.
Though I should mention: if my dog Rufus comes with me, a one-mile walk turns into an hour-long expedition because he has to investigate every single scent on the planet. The man’s got priorities, and sniffing is top of the list.
Outside of that, I live with a book in my hand. I’m constantly hunting for new recommendations, so if you know a good read, I’m all ears.
Here’s a fun fact: I backpacked through 16 European countries in three weeks before starting my job. That trip was full of hostels, trains, a little confusion, and absolutely no idea what I was doing. I was exhausted by the end, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
What drew you to Workhorse? What’s your favorite thing about it? What problems does it help you solve?
The location is unbeatable. Being that close to the water, getting to see the Sound every single day, and being right in downtown Edmonds where there’s always somewhere to grab lunch or take a walk is the dream.
My favorite thing, though, is the space itself. When I walk in, I can lock in. There’s this collective energy of other people doing focused work that’s pretty magnetic. I stay motivated because I’m surrounded by people who are also showing up and getting things done. It’s the opposite of working from home in sweats at 2 p.m., which has its place but isn’t where my best work happens.
Workhorse Members Create Community
Emma’s been such a wonderful addition to the space. She’s usually heads-down in her work—editing videos, coordinating shot lists—but she’s warm when you catch her at the Bagel Bar or at our new water cooler. You’ll see her at lunch, probably plotting her next adventure or asking someone for a book recommendation.
The fact that she went from “graduated, moved to a new city, started a new job” to building a life and a creative practice here in Edmonds in just over a year is pretty cool. She’s exactly the kind of person we built Workhorse for: ambitious, creative, and building something really cool.
