Our List of Most Photo-Worthy Spots in Snohomish County

We are locals and we make our way around the county, so we know a thing or three about Instagramable places. As we were curating (and debating) this list, we considered a few things:

  • Your Instagram feed, naturally
  • A mix of indoor and outdoor places because of our fickle PNW weather
  • Fellow small businesses you’ll want to return to
  • And sharing the love beyond Edmonds, even though we’re super-biased toward our seaside and central location

Keep these criteria in the back of your mind as you read through our list.

Want to skip ahead? Here’s our list of our 10 favorite photo-worthy spots!

  1. APEX Everett
  2. Downtown Edmonds Red Barn
  3. Downtown Snohomish
  4. Edmonds Waterfront
  5. Evergreen Arborteum and Gardens
  6. Jetty Island
  7. Mukilteo Lighthouse Park
  8. Narrative Coffee
  9. Our Place Dessert Cafe
  10. Thomas Family Farm

1. APEX Everett

APEX offers so much content all in one place. This is where history, a massive collection of graffiti art (the DogTown Collection), and culinary excellence converge in Everett. Get a group photo with the band backstage at a show at King’s Hall, take yourself on a self-guided tour of a building that used to house the Masons and the Knights of Columbus, or tell your crew the camera eats first as you enjoy the Super Club experience at 16Eleven or a cocktail at El Sid. If you want an all-in-one location for your feed, APEX is the perfect backdrop.

2. Downtown Edmonds Red Barn

Red Barn in Edmonds, WA

Owned by our friends at Wilcox Construction, the Red Barn sits right next door to their office on 5th Ave. S in Edmonds (three blocks up and a few over from Workhorse). For the past year or so, it’s been adopted by Terry Vehrs of Windemere Real Estate and his team has built beautiful large-scale art installations that encourage photo ops. We’re talking twinkle-lit moose during the holidays, a humungous red heart for Valentine’s Day, and blooming flowers for spring. Plus, small businesses like Westin Coffee are often spotted in front of the Red Barn, selling coffee and offering lots of smiles (tag them in your photos if you get a coffee!).

3. Downtown Snohomish

Downtown Snohomish WA

Three words we’d use to describe Downtown Snohomish: Cute, cute, cute! With its abundance of antique shops and shabby-chic boutiques, it’s easy to spend a whole day in Snohomish. Your photo opps there are endless, too, since the Snohomish River snakes by right outside many shop doors. If you time it right, you might just capture a hot air balloon in the background of your pictures! OR, if you’re not easily queasy, take a ride up high yourself. It’ll make for some epic selfies for sure.

4. Edmonds Waterfront

Edmonds Waterfront in Edmonds, WA

Did you know the Edmonds Waterfront was voted 2024 Best of Snohomish County for best place to take a visitor? If that’s not reason alone to head to the beach just two blocks from Workhorse, we don’t know what is. From a cold plunger who swims with an inflatable orca whale trailing behind him, to The Bubble Man, scuba divers, and the Edmonds-Kingston Ferry, there is always something entertaining to see—and an incredible background your followers may think is fake if they’ve never seen it themselves. If you need to fuel up on caffeine while you’re down there, stop by Shore Pine at the Edmonds Waterfront Center for the best coffee on the water and tag them in your photos cheers’ing against the horizon.

5. Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens

Evergreen Arboretum and Garden in Everett, WA

Plan to spend a decent amount of time at this three and a half acre property in Everett that has ten themed gardens full of plant diversity, accessible walking paths, original sculptures, and more. Open dawn to dusk, the Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens is open daily. For the planners among us, use this map to plan your time (and photos). Reading this during the holidays or just love thinking ahead? It’s all lit up in December

6. Jetty Island

Jetty Island in Everett, WA

Local lore has it that this place has been deemed “Everett’s sandy beach of wonder.” Jetty Island is a two-mile-long, human-made island that acts as “breakwater” for the Port of Everett Marina. But besides its day job, Jetty Island also boasts warm water, no cars, no electricity, and no running water. Add it to the calendar between July 5 (the official start of every PNW summer) and Labor Day weekend when seasonal ferry service runs five days a week. Got questions? Read the Jetty Island FAQ here

7. Mukilteo Lighthouse Park

Mukilteo Lighthouse Park in Mukilteo, WA

This picturesqce local park was built in the 1950s and is also home to the highly-Instagrammable (and historic) Mukilteo Light station. If you want to do more than pose for photos while you’re there, plan some time to take a tour of the lighthouse, or even rent it for the ultimate Instagrammable moment: your wedding

8. Narrative Coffee

Narrative Coffee in Everett, WA

Featuring tall wood beams and beautiful skylights (in a building built in 1921) that stream in as much sun as they can in the PNW, Narrative Coffee is a vibe. They also take coffee extremely seriously. Ask them about their daily roast (and snap a photo of what you got, naturally). Order a made-from-scratch pastry while you’re at it. Your cool factor will go up as soon as you tag them in your next post. And here’s something the owners said that will warm your heart as you pull up their address in Waze: “Our overall hope was to create a living room for Everett that feels clean, comfortable, and welcoming.” You’ll find creative inspiration—and more—at Narrative.

9. Our Place Dessert Cafe

Our Place Dessert Cafe in Edmonds, WA

About ten minutes up the road on Highway 99 in Lynnwood, you’ll find Our Place hiding in a somewhat nondescript strip mall that also houses very good dumplings. But, when you go inside, you’ll discover that you’ve just entered the most Instagrammable of Instagrammable places around. Not only are the coffees and pastries beyond cute, but they are also good. The artful decor is swapped out each season, too, so when you go in to order the latest Einspanner special, you’ll discover something new to gush to your friends about—and not just on Instagram.

10. Thomas Family Farm

Thomas Family Farm sunflowers in Snohomish, WA

Full of fun, Thomas Family Farm is open seasonally for all sorts of Instagrammable things: towering sunflowers, weddings and events, private fire pits, butterfly releases, a corn maze, pumpkin patch, mini golf, paint ball, escape rooms, and—soon—pickle ball courts! This Instagrammable place in Snohomish Country has everything—and more.
