We are so lucky to have a real live portrait photographer working out of the space. Not only does Dolly take fantastic family photos using natural light and the occasional dog bark to unleash giggle fits, but she also spent the very beginning of her career specializing in studio headshots.
Like all of our members, Dolly (a Dedicated Desk member) is much more than her work. Let’s get to know her a little better!
Can you tell us a bit about your work (or your family’s work)? What do you/they do, and what do you love about it?
I’m a natural light portrait photographer here in beautiful Western Washington. I primarily focus on photographing families and all facets of motherhood, from announcing their pregnancy to birth, through baby’s first birthday, to end-of-life photos with the matriarch of your family, all while making you feel supported and loved. I think the fact that I don’t have a big family, since both of my parents have passed away and I don’t live near any of my blood relatives, helps me have a fresh perspective on how to capture your families as I crave that intimacy and connection that I hope is shown in my work.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself? What are your interests and hobbies? What’s a fun fact?
Sure! I was born in the Dominican Republic & raised between there and Miami, FL, so I’m not very close to where I grew up, ha. I always dreamed of moving somewhere with mountains, so I feel very at home here. I have two little ones aged 3 & 5, and they, along with this beautiful business of mine, keep me really busy, but I really enjoy cooking and reading, so if I have any free time, you can typically find me buried in an audiobook and coloring or making up a new recipe.
What drew you to Workhorse? What’s your favorite thing about it? What problems does it help you solve?
The thing that drew me to Workhorse the most was the ability to focus on my work without any distractions at home. My favorite thing about it is the location. I love being able to walk down to the waterfront if I need a break from my screen.
