Why Pickleball?

Pickleball Paddles

Before we dive into the courts, let’s talk about why pickleball has become such a phenomenon. Research published in the Journal of Aging and Physical Activity shows that pickleball has significant health benefits for adults of all ages, including improved cardiovascular fitness, balance, and social connection. The sport’s low-impact nature makes it accessible to players who might find tennis too strenuous, while still giving anyone who plays a serious workout.

Plus, it’s just plain fun. The social aspect of pickleball—rotating partners, friendly competition, and the tight-knit community—keeps people coming back. And in Edmonds, we know that community is everything.

Downtown Edmonds Pickleball Courts

Frances Anderson Center

Right in the heart of downtown Edmonds, the Frances Anderson Center has an indoor gym that often doubles as a pickleball court (right now, the City’s website says that happens M-F, 8:30-1:30, but that’s subject to change, so check here often). These courts are first-come, first-served with a max of 22, so arrive early if you want to guarantee a spot during peak times. The downtown location makes it easy to grab a post-game drink or bite to eat—check out our best happy hour spots in downtown Edmonds for recovery fuel.

Harbor Square is popular with serious players who want consistent court time and a strong community. We have a reciprocal membership with Harbor Square, so if you’re a Workhorse member, ask us about access!
