Do you prefer dogs over humans? We like both, as long as they’re well-behaved, but even we have seen that the over-under on “well-behaved” often favors pups. So, for as long as Workhorse has existed, we’ve prided ourselves on our dog-friendliness.
Look, we’re in the business of solving your workday problems. We keep you hydrated with amenities like kombucha on tap, we have close to a dozen roaming monitors (and dongles!) for you to plug into, and we host monthly lunch and learns to ensure we’re all continuing our educations. So, if you need Fido by your side to be productive, we are more than happy to accommodate you both. Just don’t be surprised if we give your dog a few extra smiles. They’re so much cuter than adult humans!
But we also know—just like you—your dog deserves a few breaks throughout the day. In this blog, we’ll tell you about our favorite places to take them for a breather or a treat, so stick around and read through our overview of the Edmonds Dog Park and five more places to pamper your pup.
Edmonds Pet Places
Workhorse is perfectly situated right downtown Edmonds, and what we expect you’ll notice when you two are out walking to stretch your legs are dog water bowls and treats all around. The city is extremely dog-friendly, and that starts with The Edmonds Dog Park.
Unleash The Zoomies at The Edmonds Off-Leash Area
The most popular pup hangout in town is undoubtedly the Edmonds Off-Leash Area (OLAE). Started by a group of passionate volunteers in 2005 and now a 5013C organization, this scenic spot offers a slice of doggy paradise. You’ll see pups chasing tennis balls and splashing in the waves right next to the Edmonds Marina (also a great place to walk, and if you walk from Workhorse, our favorite route to get to the OLAE). Imagine a sweeping beach area with mountain views built for endless fetch sessions, a poo bag dispenser, and lots of opportunities to make new friends, aka doggy networking.
The Fun Continues Beyond The Dog Park
Edmonds’ dog-friendliness extends far beyond the OLAE. Many nearby restaurants offer patio seating areas where your furry companion can be your dining partner. Some of our favorites are the Salish Sea Brewing Boat House and Epulo Bistro, both walkable from Workhorse.
Okay, But What About Dessert?
Beyond pre-ordering a free Puppuccino at Starbarks up the block, you can spoil your pup with a visit to one of Edmonds’ many pet stores! From gourmet treats and chew toys to stylish collars and comfy beds, you’ll find everything your furry friend needs (and wants!).
Our Favorite Pet Stores in Edmonds
It’s clear Edmonds loves its pups, and the city is set up with lots of places to get them gourmet treats and squeaky toys. Check out some of our favorite places to load up:
- All the Best Pet Care carries all-natural food, toys, treats, carriers, and supplies for your dog (and cat!) right next to PCC at Westgate
- Blue Collar Doghouse is the place in Edmonds for grooming (including a self-wash station), boarding, and doggy daycare
- Pet Wants Edmonds in Perrinville offers fresh pet food and grooming. Plus, it’s near another off-leash park, called Lynndale
- Muddy Pawz provides pet grooming for your fur baby in Firdale Village
- SplashDog Canine Well-Being Center is a literal spa for your dog, also in Firdale Village. They’ll do everything from teaching Fido how to swim, to getting him drooling during a relaxing massage, exercising him at the gym, and introducing him to new friends in playgroups
If you’re looking to adopt, stay in touch with Aisha and her team at The Haus of Dogs in the same neighborhood.
Bring Your Dog to Work
We can’t wait to meet your well-trained, blissed-out—from their spa time, obviously—pup (pssst, if you’re not totally sold on how hiring a canine coworker can benefit you, check out our blog that rounds up Four Ways Office Dogs Can Improve A Workplace).
No matter where your Edmonds adventures—and Fido—take you, use Workhorse as your HQ! We’re always ready with a treat and a pat on the head. Learn more and sign both of you up today.
Bonus: Hit the Trails
Feeling extra adventurous? Leash up and explore the scenic trails winding through Edmonds. Yost and South County Parks are two of our favorites. Breathe in the fresh air, enjoy the views, and bond with your pup in nature—it’s a recipe for pawsome memories.
