Member Spotlight: Andi Spears

Workhorse member Andi Spears just won a Seattle Times Best in the PNW award for Best Woman-Owned Business. Like, what! That’s major! And we know her!

But before you think this is just another success story, know this: Andi built Hummingbird Marketing Services with an all-women team; she loves the Mariners (no fair weather fandom from her!), and designs an annual calendar filled with daily celebrations—more on all of that below.

Keep reading to learn about Andi’s journey from magazine publishing to Amazon to owning her own shop, and why she credits community with making the difference.

Can you tell us a bit about your work? What do you do, and what do you love about it?

I’m the proud owner of Hummingbird Marketing Services, which I launched in 2015 and now have three full-time team members. We create websites, content, social media, branding, and digital marketing designed to help businesses grow. Our clients range across veterinary hospitals, attorneys, retail stores, therapy practices, dog groomers, dry cleaners, business coaches, lavender farms, non-profits, restaurants, real estate agents, med spas, home builders, wedding planners, authors, personal stylists, and even a ska band.

I love what my team and I do every day—getting to be creative, think of clever ideas, find solutions to problems, and help our clients grow past their goals. Their success is our success. We’re especially drawn to small businesses, non-profits, and mission-driven organizations where we can become true partners in their growth. And as a woman business owner with an all-women team, I feel deeply passionate about helping other women business owners succeed.

Andi’s Big Win: The Seattle Times Best in the PNW Award

I’m over-the-moon excited that Hummingbird won Bronze for Best Woman-Owned Business in The Seattle Times’ Best in the PNW 2026 Awards, announced September 20. The awards campaign brought in more than 1.1 million votes, and I’m incredibly honored that we were named one of the top three among 152 nominees in our category.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself? What are your interests and hobbies? What’s a fun fact?

I’m originally from Akron, Ohio. After college, I moved to Richmond, then Boston, then Los Angeles, and finally Seattle in 2007. My background is in print publishing—mostly magazines—and then I spent eight years in digital marketing at Amazon before launching Hummingbird. I realized I love working hard, but I wanted to work that hard for myself.

I’m a big baseball fan, rooting for the Mariners (except when the Cleveland Guardians are in town). My husband and I love to travel, go wine tasting, play board and card games, cook and watch cooking shows, and attend live theatre. I recently saw Cabaret at Edmonds Community College’s Black Box Theatre, and I highly recommend it.

Here’s a fun fact: That awesome calendar hanging next to the reception desk at Workhorse? That’s from me. Every day has something to celebrate, and it’s great for social media inspiration. I send them out every year—ping me to get on the list!

What drew you to Workhorse? What’s your favorite thing about it? What problems does it help you solve?

Workhorse is my happy place, my place to focus, my “get it done” place. I’ve made some really meaningful connections here, and I truly feel supported by the Workhorse team. I love the vibe and all the little touches that make it great. (Kombucha on draft? I mean, come on!)

I come in on Wednesdays—my No Meeting Wednesdays—so I can focus and have think time, which is rare for business owners. I also try to come in on Fridays for the same purpose. The biggest problem Workhorse solves is giving me a space outside my home office, where my two Ragdoll Siamese cats and rescue pup want constant attention. Here, I’m in my own world without those distractions. Workhorse gives me space to work on my business instead of always working in my business, and I feel fortunate to have found this gem in Edmonds.

Workhorse Members Create Community

We love how Andi shows up—for her business, her clients, and herself. Her No Meeting Wednesdays and Friday focus sessions are protected time, and even if you find her with her head down, working, she’ll pop up to say hi. We love her community-forward drive, and we smile every time we look at her calendar.

What Andi said about finding your people and building community is what Workhorse was built to do. We want everyone to come in for more than desks, WiFi, and admittedly awesome kombucha. We want you to come in for the people you work alongside and the connections you make, in a beautiful space that lets you feel both focused and supported. Andi gets that. We’re grateful she’s part of ours.

Let’s Get Social—in Edmonds and Online
